Support the Sloth Backpack Project
You can help us to conserve these incredible animals by donating whatever you can – no donation is too small. Every single dollar raised will go towards supporting our research and the development of a release program. The more funds we have available, the more scientific tracking equipment we can buy to help us unlock the secret lives of wild sloths. I passionately believe that your contribution can help us to make a huge difference to the conservation of sloths around the world. Together we have the chance to discover more about these amazing animals and help to protect them in the future.
If you would like to ‘Sponsor a Sloth Backpack’, this involves a one off donation of $800. These funds will be used to purchase an entire reusable backpack unit including a Daily Diary data logger, VHF radio transmitter, batteries and harness. This will be deployed on wild sloths in Costa Rica for the duration of our project. If you chose to do this, you will get the chance to:
- Name the backpack (this will appear on the backpack itself as well as in all publications resulting from this research)
- Receive acknowledgement in all scientific papers that we publish during the project.
- Receive frequent updates, videos and photos from the sloth wearing your backpack throughout the 3 year study.
If you are interested in sponsoring a sloth backpack, or if you have any questions about the project, please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information.
If you would like to keep up to date with the Sloth Backpack Project and our progress towards developing a successful release program, you can subscribe to our mailing list to receive newsletter updates. I will also keep this blog filled with information and pictures showing how the project is developing.
Volunteers and Internships
I am afraid we do not currently have any vacancies available for research assistants or interns. As the project develops, we may open up some positions. When these opportunities are available I will advertise them here and on the blog, so be sure to keep checking back!
